Control Systems Field Engineers are responsible for maintaining automation systems that ensure processes and machinery operate as designed. Key responsibilities include:
- Servicing instrumentation, control valves, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs): This involves conducting routine maintenance and repairs on various types of instrumentation to ensure measurement and operational efficiency.
- Designing electrical control systems: The design phase includes drafting schematics and layouts, ensuring compliance, and addressing user specifications to create a reliable and efficient control system.
- Configuring Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS): This includes setting up input/output modules, developing control algorithms, and implementing user interfaces for monitoring and control.
- Continuously delivering automation solutions that align with user requirements and enhance system performance: This ongoing commitment involves working closely with clients to gain a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges.

Reports To: Operations Director
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Roles and responsibilities for this job may include but are not limited to:
- PLC and/or DCS configuration
- Organize project data into manageable spreadsheets and databases
- Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphics development and SCADA configuration
- Historian configuration
- Perform I/O checkout on the installed control system and document the checkout results
- Provide post-commissioning support to the client’s operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel
- Travel to the client’s site as required. Extensive travel required.
- The ability to provide after-hours telephone support on a rotating schedule.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience maintaining automation systems and keeping production/operations running.
